After a hearty dinner of laksa & nasi lemak, we proceed on for some light desserts and drinks. Holland Village is just a nice place to hangout. Cool crowds, nice eating places.
We settle down at Gelare for some ice-cream and waffle. Business is quiet as only one table of caucasians other than us. So we chose to sit comfortable at their huge sofa booth corner facing an LCD TV.
After A&W has closed down, you can no longer find cheap delicious waffle ice-cream. How I wish there is still A&W around. Gelare's waffle is damn good, crispy on the outside, buttery tender on the inside. One bite with the strawberry syrup, ice-cream & fruits makes you crave for more.
But one negative point is that their waffle is on the pricer side. $7.20 for one waffle without ice-cream. If you would like to have ice-cream topping, you would have to top up another $2.50 for a single scoop. So it's like $9.70 for one ice-cream waffle? Daylight robbery. Therefore, it would be more worth it to have waffle every Tuesday which is their Waffle Day.
Gelare is also famous for their ice-cream. You can choose the flavour of the ice-cream to go along with the waffle. We chose vanilla bean but don't really like it, other flavours would be better. You can even blend the ice-cream into their milk shakes item.
Nevertheless, waffle is still one of our favourite dessert. Though expensive, we would still be willing to pay as long as the waffle is good. So Gelare, you'll still get our votes.
