One Rochester

Finally we have a chance to drop by this very chic nice cafe located at One Rochester. Meow asked Wee Kiang along for a chit chat session.

The decor and ambience of this place is really really nice. And i was told by my colleague that this was designed by his brother, so cool.

We chose an outdoor seat, got ourselves comfortably sitted in the big plush wooden armchair while listening to jazz music. They have an extensive menu of alcoholic drinks and wine, but no liquor for us, we ordered their coffee and tea.

Time flies while you are having fun. Ha, coz we are trying to solve the Meiji puzzle, a gift Oink got from Zhirong from the poly gift xchange. Till now, we still can't fix it back, too intellectual for us to handle.

This is just one place we would love to drop by as & when we have the time.

Rating: 9/10 (For the ambience)

Villa Bali

Time for night hunting again. Tonight, just to have our own mini countdown celebration, Meow brought me to this Villa Bali located near Alexandra. A place introduce by his colleague and he personally find it quite nice. It will be very inconvenient if you are not driving as the location is quite isolated.

This whole place is very resort style, low straw chairs, wooden tables, bar counters, water stream & etc. Great ambience though there are lots of mosquitoes.

One plus point about here is that you can be very dressed down in bermudas & sandals, as you are in the mood of mini Bali Island. Just let your hair down and party!!

Don't place too much expectation on the finger food as the fries we order is soggy. Even the mocktails are way better than the cocktails, ha.

Nevertheless, a great place to wind down & relax.

Rating: 7/10 (Pts deducted as there are just too many mosquitoes)

The Before And After Look

New Asia Bar

Swissotêl The Stamford

We decided to head over for a drink after my bday dinner. Fl introduce this pub to us. It is located at the coolest place with a magnificent view of singapore. As high as 71 storey, just imagine how good the view is. And this whole place is very nicely done up with high ceilings, changing spot lights, full panel windows, sofa seats, bar counter & centre table.

But as this is within a hotel, the people who visits here are mostly expats or perhaps foreigners staying in this hotel. We hardly can find any asians in here so the crowds here are not really our cup of tea.

Cocktail, mocktail, beer and finger food list is not a lot. So we just anyhow made our choice of drinks & ordered one basket of fries to go along. The fries though crispy is not very nice. You can only find the best french fries @ Alley Bar. The cocktail also taste horribly, so for our 2nd drink, we ordered a safer choice, Erdinger Beer.

Hours passed, we started to get bored and decided to leave for a late night show "The Break Up" instead at Cathay. Nice realistic show, couples should really watched this.

The Altivo Bar

July 21, 2006

It was our quarterly company luncheon time again. My colleague has chosen Altivo as the dining place. So I sat in my colleague's car and head there together.

This place was pretty much packed with tourist busy taking photos as over here offers great scenic view of harbourfront and the sea. Although there were lots of oncoming breeze, the weather was still quite warm. I was sitted directly beneath the sun and my dining session seems like basking in the sun. Great sun tan.

Most of us ordered their set lunch as it is more comprehensive. Service were really slow throughout the whole session even though there isn't much diners, you can even fall asleep. We can wait for almost 20 mins for every servings. From the drinks to the very starchy soup, to the reasonable edible chicken chop and lastly, the melted ice-cream. The waiting time is really getting on our nerves.

And when it comes to serving of the ice-cream, there was this very rude male waiter, asking very loudly "who is having chocolate flavour / vanilla flavour", and began placing the ice-cream glass hard on the table in front of you. And at a very sudden moment, after he had finished giving out the ice-cream, his huge heavy tray was blown off by a gust of wind, and it hit my colleague's head. He apologized a few times to my colleague and just walked off.

What a way to have a company luncheon. Not a very good dining experience.

2nd Visit @ Night

Bliss Waterfront Dining & Bar

Punggol Park Hougang Ave 8
Singapore 530000

Tel : 62803389

My favourite hangout place. A very good place to relax & chat all night long.

This restaurant is located inside the Punggol Park itself, not many people are aware of this. People who visited this place normally lives around hougang area or by word of mouth, which i supposed. Business is very good especially weekends, always packed. And of coz, if you own a pet, feel free to bring them along.

They have recently renovated the place with a shelter extension towards the unsightly pond. But good effort for that touch of cheap Bali style.

Over here sells good food with cheap beers (Eg Erdinger @ only $10.90). They served very nice Criss Cross Fries, Chicken Chop with Melted Cheese & Ham Hotplate, Aglio Olio and many more. They also serve a wide range of wine. Unknowingly, you could have ordered every single finger food & drinks they have just by chit chatting the whole night.

Final Verdict: Strongly recommended if you want to have a relaxing weekend. Definitely won't burn your pocket. But do be patient with the service staffs for not being too attentive, their sight always wonder around.
