Pacific Coffee Company

Though Pacific Coffee has been around for ages and is the first cafe to offer really big plush comfortable looking chairs, this is actually our 1st time visiting this place.

And after trying out this cafe, we would have to say sorry to Coffeebean and Starbucks as Pacific Coffee serves really good coffee, so much better than them. Even though we are not coffee lovers, we love what is being served to us and we love the comfort of this place.

We order a Vanilla Cappucino and a Hazelnut Latte. Both are creamy with the right sweetness. So good that the taste still lingers in our mind.

Good coffee, cozy environment, friendly staffs.

December 29, 2006

Hey, it's the time of the year again. Post-Xmas aka Pre-New Year celebration for my (Oink) poly gathering. I'm the organizer this year and therefore suggested Miss Clarity Cafe as the makan venue. This place is recommended by my colleague for the huge portions and affordable pricing, so worth giving a try ah.

Their business is extremely good. Luckily I have made a reservation, else we will to queue for hours by looking at the length of the queue. I am not very impressed with the cafe's decor as it looks very "cheap", the too dim orange lightings and super squeezy environment can make one agitated easily. Very stuffy.

But when it comes to food, it is really value for money. Generous servings at low cost as compared to other places. Main Course ranging from $8 to $15, depending on what you order. The best deal will have to be the mixed grill Old MacDonald, so many items that only 2 pax can finish eating 1 huge plate for only $15.

Of coz, the shop have to look into their cooking skills. Though affordable and generous, food taste is equally important. Some of the meat served are really tough and dry. And the soup of the day can ruin your whole day as it is too starchy and you can't even taste if it is chicken or corn soup. So perhaps sticking with the salad will be a wiser choice.

Overall, I personally think this place is quite acceptable and I will come back a second time. Not so soon, preferably a few months later.

Secret Recipe

Various Locations:
http://www.secretrecipe.com.sg/contactus.asp

Secret recipe really has magical recipes that create delicious food and super fine culinary cakes.

Oink is so impressed with their wide selections of cakes that not only look good but taste fantastic as well. Pricing wise, very affordable at just $4.90 per slice. Every slice is huge and packed with generous fillings, worth every cent. So soft that it melts in your mouth. Definitely recommend the Yogurt Cheesecake, yummy!!

The lamb shank which Meow orders is also superb. Huge chunk of meat is cooked till perfection, tender and not tough. And the sauce that sizzles on the lamb is so good that he finished it till the last drop.

We will definitely be back to try out more dishes. Good food are hard to resist.

The sign "Milk Bar . Bakery" struck me as we walked passed Corduroy. What could possibly be offering here?

The place looks as though it came straight from the designer magazines. The seats at the back look cozy and they offer a great view of the harbour sea. It offers a wide varieties of pastries, toasts, pastas and drinks. Sadly, the menu was poorly made as they are unable offer some drinks that we wanted to order. (Out of stock?? Then why place it in the menu??)

I ordered the Legham & Sauerkraut on toasted beer bread which was nicely done up, and my friends ordered the beef lasagna, macaroni and club sandwiches. Martin sang some praises of the slice of apple pie he had for dessert, hmm.. I have got to try that on my next trip here.

I don't have much to comment about this place as I only try 1 dish from it's menu. Well probably you could come here for some cozy nights out with your friends.

This has got to be Oink's favourite cafe. Great ambience, clean environment, colorful cheerful looking menu, cozy chairs and friendly staffs.

They serves very good cakes. Oink swear by their strawberry shortcake and black forest cake. So sinful so good. Even their food such as otah bread, chocolate fondue & waffles are equally good.

In terms of pricing, it is slightly steeper than TCC & Coffee Club.

Coffee Club

September 15, 2006

Many people often mixed up Coffee Club with TCC as they offer almost the same selections. But frankly speaking, we prefer Coffee Club than TCC, as their drinks and food are better.

Though not as cozy as TCC, coffee club is still a great place to hangout, esp during late nights, you could visit their 24hrs outlet at somerset. Young vibrant staffs, great service.

We are not coffee lovers so we can't tell much about the differences on coffee. Even though we pay so much for one blue mountain, it just taste like those "Kopi-O" from kopitiam, haha. We are so amateurs in the aspects of coffee.

Not coffee drinkers like us, choose other drinks like shakes or soda. In terms of food, they were decently good, esp the sandwiches, huge & tasty. Good finger foods too.

Hey, which is the Blue Mountain that cost $9.60 and which is Mocha Singa that just cost $5 ?? What a waste of $$ -_-"

Their tea time offer: Buy one drink + one cake = 1 free cake

TCC - The Coffee Connoisseur

Various Outlets:
http://www.thecoffeeconnoisseur.com/moby/cms/boutiques/

TCC is a major player in coffee cafes. They have been opening one outlet after another, and every outlet design is unique in its own way. But one common word that lies in their interior design is "Cozy".

With all the plush red arm chairs or bean bags, makes you feel so comfortable. And due to their extensive outlets, it's easy to find one at your own convenience.

TCC, though is known as the coffee connoisseur, we really don't think highly of their coffee and their new coffee creations specialities. We haven't once had a good coffee there, it has always been too sweet and weird tasting, just like medicine. Even the normal juices or soda is extremely sweet, just like the passion fruit soda shown below, so diabetic. But they do score on the drinks appearance.

In terms of food, it also don't taste extremely fantastic. Ate their sandwiches, small finger food and pasta, looks good but taste is average or below average at times. Even coffee club is better than them.

Therefore, we don't visit them unless required...eg waiting for one another :)
